Agenda GMM Jan 21 2023

We need you to add your voice to the call telling the Ford Conservatives: don’t appeal the Bill 124 decision!

In November, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice overturned Bill 124, finding that the law violated workers’ rights to free collective bargaining. The decision affirmed that workers’ rights are human rights and is a victory for all workers.

True to form, the Ford government has announced that it plans to appeal the court’s decision, instead of respecting it and working to provide fair compensation to the hundreds of thousands of workers whose rights were violated by Bill 124 and whose wages were unjustly capped for years under the legislation.

Click here to send a message to the Ford Conservatives using e-action

You must notify secretary.treasurer@cupe5678.ca by 10 am on Friday December 2, 2022 if you are missing Strike or Top up pay.

This will be the final notice as the money must be sent back to National.

Tell Doug Ford – Hands Off Workers’ Rights !

Doug Ford’s government is launching a full-frontal attack on basic labour freedoms in Ontario.

Education Minister Stephen Lecce wants to pull the plug on bargaining while it’s still underway and use legislation to forcibly impose a contract on education workers. Will you help us stop this?

Here’s two actions you can take:

» Join an emergency rally in Toronto tomorrow, Tuesday, November 1 @ 5PM

» Send a message to tell Ford’s Conservatives: Hands Off Workers’ Rights!

The right to free and fair collective bargaining is a fundamental freedom, protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Ford’s attack on education workers is an attack on all workers in Ontario. If he gets away with it, all other workers will face the same threat: contracts imposed by law instead of free collective bargaining.

Tell Doug Ford: Hands off workers’ rights! Stop the attack on education workers!

Then, RSVP to take emergency action.Together, we will defend workers’ rights in Ontario.
